A Season of Prayer

Our congregation is going to be going through some major transitions in the 2007 year.  We are beginning the year in prayer by praying together the following prayer.

Our Communal Prayer:

The earth is yours O Lord and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it.  Thus we pray to you for guidance, wisdom and direction.

We acknowledge our sin before you, our sin of complacency.  We acknowledge that at times we have failed to speak your name, we have failed to reach out with your compassion, we have failed to be your hands and feet and we pray that you will forgive us.  As you have and are forgiving us may we become a people that will bear witness to your saving power.

Our prayer O God is that your will be done.  May you give us wisdom and vision to see what you would have our church be and do.  May you lead us and may we have the courage to follow you into the unknown. May you O Holy Spirit guide us.  If at times we need to be rebuked, rebuke us; if we need to be taught, teach us; if we need to depend on you, teach us to follow.

Will you give the leadership of the church wisdom and strength to lead us in order that we may continue to be a witness for you.  May you give them vision in order to see what your will is; may you give us all wisdom and vision to see how we can continue to be your hands and feet in our broken community.

The earth is yours O Lord and all that is in it.  Thus we pray to you for guidance, wisdom and direction.  In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
